Ms. Sujata Guin heads the Human Resources function for Apeejay Surrendra Park
Hotels Ltd ( The Park ), Flurys Swiss Confectionery Pvt. Ltd. and Apeejay Institute of Hospitality.
After school and high school at Loreto House Kolkata, she graduated from Mount Holyoke College, (Massachusetts USA) with a Bachelors degree - majoring in Biological Sciences & a minor in Psychology. Thereafter, she completed Post Graduation in Business Management from The National University of Singapore and Professional Development Programs in Human Resources Management at Cornell University and University of California, Los Angeles.
Experience & professional background:
Her professional experience of 20 plus years, include stints at First Empire State Corporation ( M&T Bank) in upstate New York, her family-run business in Kolkata and thereafter the Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels (The Park Hotels, Flurys & AIH).
Ms. Guin heads the People function at The Park Hotels, Flurys and Apeejay Institute of Hospitality. A total team strength of approximately 3500 women and men make up this "Anything but Ordinary" organization. With a firm commitment to the Vision of Leadership through Differentiation, The Park's foundations in people management are based on the Mission statement " We believe our strength is our People and we will encourage their development. Ms. Guin's responsibilities include Team-Strength Planning, Talent Acquisition & Process Management, Talent Retention, Gender Diversity, Performance Management, Reward & Recognition, Employee Engagement, Employer Branding, Compensation & Benefits management, Training & Development, Development / Implementation of Organization Policies, Budgets, Cost planning and efficiency, HRIS Management; Analytics & Metrics, Overseeing human resources for the group & advising the Chairperson & Managing Director on HR policy & matters
Ms. Guin has been recently recognized as one of the Most Influential HR Leaders in India, February 2017 by the World HRD Congress. She has also received the Asian Hotel Industry Leadership Awards as the Most Admired HR Professional of the Year 2016 and also the Women at Work Leadership Award 2015 by the Asia Pacific HRM Congress.
She is a member of the CII Eastern Region HR & IR Subcommittee 2017-18; the CII-Indian Women's Network East 2017; Task Force for Women's Empowerment 2016-17 & 2015-16. During her professional tenure she has, in the past, been associated with other bodies such as the HR/IR Subcommittee of Bengal Chamber of Commerce, on the selection panels of Air India / Indian Airlines, IMT Ghaziabad and IIM Ranchi, Administration sub-committee of Calcutta Club. She has been a panelist and over the years has spoken at various seminars / forums such as HAI, SHRM Forum East, Silicon India HR Meet Kolkata & Women's Leadership Summit. Ms. Guin is a member of National HRD Network. Her Other Interests include Art, Interior design & décor, Travel.
