Joanna Chin

Joanna began her career as a corporate lawyer over 23 years ago working principally in the area of mergers and acquisitions. She worked for Simmons & Simmons in Hong Kong and London before moving into regional in-house legal and consultancy roles. During the financial crisis of 2008, Joanna was headhunted as legal counsel to lead the separation of the AIA group from its mother company AIG and AIA’s complex pre-IPO restructuring. She has been a departmental head, and has been the adviser to senior and C-level executives.

As a coach, Joanna facilitates peer coaching and team/leadership programs. She has coached senior executives in the legal, financial, consultancy, luxury, education and non profit sectors in Asia, Europe and the United States. Having gone through deep transformational experiences herself, Joanna takes clients on a journey of self-discovery and awareness, identifying mind-sets that prevent them from getting to the next level of success. Through the use of tools, clients are empowered to express their inner thoughts and feelings in ways that strengthen relationships and increase influence with stakeholders. She is also an adjunct professor at Ivey Business School, Asia.

Joanna has mentored HKU MBA students and with the Women’s Foundation (TWF) and was listed by TWF as a “woman to watch” in 2017. As a member of “Women on Board” of the French Chamber of Commerce she co-leads the United Nations HeforShe movement in “corporate Hong Kong” in partnership with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, engaging C-Suite executives in the gender dialogue. She has chaired and been a dynamic speaker at various women in leadership workshops and conferences. In addition, as board member of International Coach Federation (ICF) Hong Kong Chapter for 4 years, she led a team to launch the gift of coaching to benefit non profits in the local community.

Joanna is a certified coach with the US based Neuroleadership Group (Results Coaching) and certified as a Professional Certified Coach with ICF. Further certification/licenses: IECL (Organisational & Executive Coaching) Level 1 & 2 and team coaching, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Para professional certification in Rational-Emotive & Cognitive Behavioural Therapy , HeartMath Coach/Mentor, “Mastery of deep facilitation” with teams.

She is also qualified as a solicitor in New Zealand, United Kingdom and Hong Kong (non-practising).
